Vacation time

November 16th, 2009

A friend of mine we’ll be going away for vacation next month, just before Christmas and she’s excited about it. They haven’t been able to travel since they had their baby so it’s going to be the first for them. I’m not sure if they’re going to myrtle beach vacation rentals or just go somewhere that doesn’t require lots of hours sitting in a plane. I’m not sure I can handle more than ten hours of plane ride with my little girl, I dare not try to find out yet. She’s better on road trips because she falls asleep in a moving vehicle so I’m not worried about having a cranky toddler but a plane ride I’m not sure. Maybe when she’s a bit bigger we could try but for now I’m fine with road trips.

Tis the season

November 14th, 2009

Christmas is just around the corner, that means lots of parties to attend and lots of good food all around with family and good friends to share them with. This also means lots of excess calories, at this rate I might as well read diet pill reviews so I will know which is the best brand to buy when Christmas season is over and I gained a few pounds (yet again). It’s really hard to control myself when there’s lots of food everywhere, and frankly I don’t think I would want to deprive myself (lol). I just have to suffer the consequences after and my pants don’t fit anymore. I’m excited though, I love Christmas….it’s one of my favorite holidays and I know the little girl is excited too. There’s Christmas decorations everywhere and the those twinkling lights are beautiful at night. We’re almost done decorating our house too, and we had a very eager little helper that was more than happy to assist mommy and daddy.

A holiday

November 13th, 2009

There’s one public holiday this month which means hubby is home with us. As much as I wanted to take my family to an outer banks vacation rentals it won’t be practical for us this month. Christmas means lots of shopping for gifts and with MIL coming over to spend the holidays with us we’ll just have to postpone a family getaway for now. We’re excited to have MIL with us and we’ll sure take her to see the new tourist destinations she haven’t visited before (she’s been here a couple of times). We could plan one for next year though, Chinese New Year is in February so maybe then we can go on vacation.

Janet’s Nov Grab bag

November 12th, 2009

I always look forward to getting Janet Phillips’ grab bag template each month. I’ve been a huge fan of her clean and simple templates for years now. I just love using templates for making quick scrapbook pages when I want to make a few at one go. This month’s grab bag is now available and of course I’ve already purchased mine. I’m hoping to scrap tonight once the little girl is asleep.

Spotless

November 11th, 2009

I don’t enjoy cleaning the house but when I do I try my best to make every surface spotless and shiny. I  vacuum, polish all the wood surfaces and the floor, clean all the glass surfaces and the countertop and scrub, scrub and scrub some more until I’m satisfied that everything is clean. I don’t use Anilox roll cleaning but make do with the cleaning products that I have and I’m quite satisfied. It can be a challenge to keep up with a little girl who likes to play in all corners of the house and leave a trail of mess wherever she goes. Good thing I can make her put her toys back in the proper boxes now, I don’t have to pick up everything by myself. When you have a toddler at home you have to be prepared to tidy up several times a day, I’m used to it now.

I’m watching you

November 10th, 2009

I can’t help but look at the video surveillance equipment whenever I’m getting cash from the atm, it’s funny I know but my eyes just goes looking for it. Of course security is something that should be taken lightly. I had money stolen from me by a friend back in college (of course she’s not my friend anymore) and from that moment on I was mindful of my actions (and my wallet) everytime I go to the bank. You can say it made me a little paranoid but you can’t blame me since that so called friend did it twice. The surveillance proved it was indeed her who stole from me which was more hurtful than having a stranger do it. Before that incident I was more trusting and a little bit careless, not anymore because I sure won’t let the same thing happen to me again.

Another TV

November 9th, 2009

I don’t really like the idea of having a TV here in the bedroom. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bell tv or other TV, I just don’t think that having one in the living room is a good idea. I would say that our 42″ flatscreen TV in the living room is enough TV for this household. It would be more difficult to make the little girl take her afternoon naps and make her go to bed at night with a TV in the bedroom. At least with a TV in the living room I can tell her when it’s time for bed and she’ll go without any fuss but I fear that’s not going to be the case in a bedroom TV. So maybe we’ll put buying a TV in the bedroom for now….

Guy Things

November 7th, 2009

I just love this new kit by Catherine Designs. The colors are great and the elements are just superb. It is the perfect kit for masculine layout and it is fantastic because I have the perfect photo of my husband for it. My friend told me that she hasn’t seen a layout of my dear hubby in a while so I’ll be making up for that. I hope to get more recent photos of him though so I can scrap more about him too. Come to think of it I haven’t scrapped much about me either, I should do that too.

Finding great sites

November 7th, 2009

If you are like me who is always up for finding new sites on the internet when you also appreciate free web directories. I love finding interesting sites and sharing them with friends. Usually I look for sites which focuses on home decor, baby clothes, parenting and of course celebrity gossip (lol). When I’m not doing a project or scrapbooking I read articles online. I find it nice that I can get these information without having to go to the library to borrow a book. There’s so much great sites out there that is offering readers like me something to look forward to each day. There are certain sites that I visit every couple of days to see if there’s new posts, usually while my little girl naps or when I’m enjoying my cup of coffee for the day.

I want to learn

November 4th, 2009

I’m the type of person who likes to learn new things every now and then. I might not have the time to take more than one new hobby/interest at a time but I make sure that I learn something new. I heard a couple of friends talk about online university and Western Governors Online University a few times and it made me curious. It makes sense for working professionals to go to Western Governors Online University because it is a nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). Someone who wishes to pursue an online nursing degree can do so and not worry about proper accereditation. Furthermore the programs that WGU offer are affordable, it won’t make someone go through financial difficulties. A student only needs to pay for credit hours per six month term, that makes it more manageable money wise. If you are someone who is looking for an online university it is worth reading more about WGU
